A Bible Revelation that led us to our son Seth James:
Let me start by saying how Herb and I chose the name Seth James. It was through a movie called City Of Angels with Nicholas Cage: Nicholas Cage played the role of an angel named Seth. It was a great movie and Herb and I really liked the name.
During our adoption process - we figured if it were a boy we would name him Seth. Later through scripture and prayer, the Lord revealed to me why he had placed the name Seth in our hearts. Read below:
The Bible does not say that Seth was Adam and Eve’s first child, or even first son, after Abel was killed. Rather, it states that Seth was born as a “replacement” for Abel. Genesis chapter 5 traces the genealogy of Seth. Prior to his death, Abel was likely the “chosen” son that would eventually produce the Messiah (Genesis 3:15). It is in this sense that Seth “replaced” Abel.
So what does this all mean: okay let me break it down for you. Adam and Eve had two sons. One was named Abel and the other was named Cain. Cain killed Abel. After Abel's death, Eve became pregnant with another son and she named their son Seth. In Genesis 4:25, it reads that Eve states: "God has given me Seth in replacement of Abel".
Well anyone that knows us personally knows our history with the loss of our other son Baby Emmanuel. My heart tells me that YES! Seth was sent to us in replacement of our son Baby Emmanuel. And you know what the amazing part of this story is? We did not know any of this part of scripture until way after we decided to name our son Seth.
And what about "James" - his middle name became evident that the Lord wanted this name for hum after speaking to me one day while I was in the shower. As crazy as it may sound. The Lord said to me that day: "Seth's middle name will be James" after hearing the Lord's voice speak this to me. I asked for a confirmation that this indeed was coming from the Lord. Weeks after I received some documents with the BP history. Seth's grandfather's name is "James"
God speaks to us through the power of the Holy Spirit. We just have to be willing to quiet our hearts and listen.
